12月19日，在勇士和湖人中场休息时段，科比球衣退役仪式隆重举行。他成为了NBA历史上第一位在同一支球队退役两个球衣号码的球员。
中场哨响的那一刹那，全场响起了“科比、科比”的呼喊。一段“亲爱的篮球”动画视频过后，一身西服的科比缓缓走到了场地中央，一边走，一边向大家挥手致意。站在湖人队的logo上，他拍了拍胸脯，这一刻，他有很多话想对大家说。
