Hong Kong stocks surged over the past few days, as investors flooded the market with wads of cash. To "cater to this booming mood," Hong Kong television broadcaster TVB has just announced on its micro blog that it will rebroadcast the 1992 financial-themed television drama "The Greed of Man" beginning next week. However, many netizens expressed their fear that the stock market will slump as the "Ting Hai effect" may occur again. The Ting Hai effect is a weird stock market phenomenon in which there is a sudden and unexplained drop in the market whenever a film or a television series starring Hong Kong actor Adam Cheng is broadcast. The effect is named after Ting Hai, the primary antagonist portrayed by Cheng in "The Greed of Man".
