Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras announced a bank holiday and capital controls under the recommendation of the central Bank of Greece, addressing the nation during a televised statement on Sunday evening. The Greek leader renewed the request to international creditors for an extension of the bailout to be due at the end of the month for a few days. According to the sources the banks would remain closed for a week and the maximum sum savers will be able to withdraw will be less than 100 euros per day.
