A semicolon can be used when a sentence could come to an end, but instead continues. (For example: "The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog; it keeps running into the bushes"). 分号一般用在一个完整句意后又继续推进的文本前。（比如：敏捷的棕色狐狸跳到那条懒狗前；结果扎进了灌木丛里。）
People who suffer from mental illness have now taken on the punctuation symbol on as a metaphor for a moment when a person contemplates suicide - in other words, thinks about ending the story of their life - and yet they continue through their difficulties. 有精神疾患的患者现在把这个符号看做克服困难（比如在想要结束生命时）继续前行的象征。
Project Semicolon began as a call for people to draw a ";" on their body to highlight a range of mental health issues including depression, suicide, addiction and self-harm.
